Blizzard Entertainment is "dedicated" to understanding and resolving lag issues in the World of Warcraft raid Sanctum of Domination. A "burst of lag" that occurred during phase one of the Sylvanas Windrunner encounter, in particular, has resulted in a slew of player complaints.
The company stated that while this is something that they hope to improve over time, there will still be a few seconds of server lag on pull for the time being.
After removing reports of lag during the encounter's initial burst, the devs are "diagnosing" reports of lag during "almost every" phase of the fight. However, they have not yet been able to reproduce the lag in a test environment.
Combined with the "accumulated changes," an "unrelated change" in how the developers organize and distribute server processes across their server hardware caused their server processes to become more "concentrated."
A number of changes were made to how server processes are "distributed" by the developers during the most recent weekly maintenance, which should help to alleviate the source of the lag.
This was supposed to happen during Phase Three of the game's content release, around the same time as the raid Black Temple. However, this did not happen.
While no specific release date for Phase Two has been announced, updates to the game's PvP system as well as raid bosses in Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep are currently being tested on the Public Test Realm.
Because Blizzard decided to end season one earlier than originally planned, Longdale stated that the team increased the amount of Arena Points players would receive for the remainder of season one and into season two. In addition, Blizzard will lower the cost of rewards for the season prior to the start of season two.
With that in mind, we can predict that Phase Two and Arena Season Two will be released within the next four to six weeks at the most conservative estimate. Depending on how the testing goes, we can expect to see that content within the next month.
